Automechanika Istanbul 2025 will spotlight innovative products and global market opportunities
19 marzo 2025
Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), stated that the automotive aftermarket industry approached 10 billion USD in 2024 with steady growth, and that the targets for 2025 are even higher. Emphasizing that anticipated interest rate cuts would positively impact market activity, Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), said, “This development presents new opportunities for both manufacturers and consumers. Additionally, global market trends and technological innovations are opening new doors. In this context, Automechanika Istanbul 2025, where innovative products are showcased and the latest trends are shared, holds great importance for strengthening international collaborations and discovering new markets for our sector.”
Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), underlined that the sector reached a size of 8.85 billion USD by 2023 and gained strong momentum in 2024 with 5% growth, nearly reaching 10 billion USD. “This growth clearly demonstrates the sector’s steady progress. Our aim is to sustain this momentum, exceed the 10 billion USD mark, and further advance our sector on both national and international platforms. As the main supporter of Automechanika Istanbul 2025, the most important trade event contributing to the sector’s growth and global visibility, we believe it plays a critical role in achieving this vision. Having its 18th edition at Istanbul TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center between 12–15 June, the fair will provide a major opportunity to present innovations and technological developments. Automechanika Istanbul is an essential platform for demonstrating the strength of our sector in both local and global markets, supporting its sustainable growth. We believe exhibitors and visitors will once again enjoy a fruitful fair experience, discovering the latest industry innovations and strengthening business relationships,” he said.
OSS continues operations with 267 members
Highlighting the rapid development of the automotive aftermarket sector in Türkiye, Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), mentioned that despite supply and logistics challenges during the pandemic period, the number of companies focused on export based production increased significantly. He explained that OSS operates as one of the sector’s umbrella organizations with 267 member companies, consisting of 139 distributors and 128 manufacturers.
"Credit access difficulties affected the sector in 2024"
Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), remarked
that 2024 was a relatively stable year for the automotive aftermarket sector, with minimal fluctuations. He attributed this stability to the growing pains associated industry with the electric vehicle transition and the global economic and political uncertainties. “Despite these challenges, our sector maintained its steady growth. The main challenges in 2024 were difficulties in accessing credit and disruptions in cash flow. Increases in energy and raw material costs and a decline in demand also put pressure on the sector. As OSS, we continued our work by strengthening collaborations with manufacturers, distributors, and other stakeholders.”
"Lower interest rates to revive domestic market dynamics"
Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), noted that for 2025, the goal is to surpass the sales figures achieved in 2024. “One of the most decisive factors affecting 2025 sales figures will be interest rates. We believe that decreasing interest rates will revitalize supply demand balance in the domestic market. Another major factor will be the shift of approximately 880,000 vehicles sold in 2022 out of their two year manufacturer warranty, thus entering the aftermarket sector. This will contribute directly to employment and provide additional assurance for a year expected to be relatively stagnant. In the coming years, the automotive aftermarket will be shaped by key issues such as the production of spare parts for electric and autonomous vehicles, widespread digitalization, automation, and robotics. We foresee these trends positively impacting demand, especially in the electric vehicle sector.”
"Automechanika Istanbul offers significant opportunities for the sector"
Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), stressed the importance of fairs and similar events for promoting the industry. “International events such as Automechanika, which raise global awareness and establish industry leadership, are extremely valuable for us. That’s why we have always prioritized strong support for Automechanika Istanbul. Taking place for the 18th time this year from 12–15 June at Istanbul TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center, the fair offers a vital opportunity for our companies to follow market developments and expand their customer and network portfolios. Thanks to the experience and gains accumulated over previous editions, we believe this year’s fair will be another successful and productive event.”
"Exhibitors and desicion makers who are visiting the fair aim to explore new international markets"
Ali Özçete, Chairman of the Turkish Automotive Aftermarket Association (OSS), recalling that OSS was represented on the fair’s advisory board in 2024, said, “Last year, the fair opened with a prestigious gala attended by FIGIEFA General Assembly members representing 19 associations and five purchasing groups from 18 countries. This year, we continue our preparations to provide support and contributions to all our members aiming to exhibit or visit. The key focus for companies attending the fair will be to explore new international markets and develop strategic collaborations. Strengthening domestic business ties and seizing new opportunities will also be priorities. Our sector representatives aim to follow global trends closely and develop solutions that provide competitive advantages both nationally and internationally. Although conventional vehicle solutions still dominate product portfolios, innovative solutions, especially for electric and hybrid vehicles, are gaining attention. Some companies plan to strengthen their presence in this area by showcasing next generation products.”
